Alum Cave Trail : ウィキペディア英語版 | Alum Cave Trail
The Alum Cave Trail (also referred to as Alum Cave Bluff Trail) is an American hiking trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in Sevier County, Tennessee. The trail ascends Mount Le Conte, the tallest (and sixth highest) mountain east of the Mississippi River and passes by many notable landmarks, such as Arch Rock, Inspiration Point, the Duckhawk Peaks, and Cliff Top, before merging with Rainbow Falls Trail near the summit. Alum Cave is not a true cave. It is what geologists refer to as a rock shelter. ==Trail Maintenance Note== Looks like Maintenance is wrapping up. Not sure when it will be completely open but here is the link to the story: Starting on May 4, 2015, Alum Cave Trail and associated parking area will be closed to all visitor use, Monday through Thursday, for trail reconstruction. During the closure, overnight hikers to Mt. Le Conte should plan to access the peak by one of the five alternate routes including Boulevard, Rainbow Falls, Trillium Gap, Bull Head, and Brushy Mountain trails. Parking is limited, especially at Rainbow Falls/Bull Head and Trillium Gap trailheads. Hikers are encouraged to carpool and arrive at trailheads by 9:00 a.m. for the best chance to find parking. Mt. LeConte Lodge and the Mt. Le Conte Backcountry Shelter will remain open during the construction process.
